Ethulose forms a tough flexible film when dry, can be used an an adhesive or consolidant.
Easy to prepare, simply dust the correct amount of Ethulose onto the surface of well stirred water, stir until the mixture thickens, and let it stand overnight until Ethulose is fully dissolved. A 4% solution in water is about as viscous as honey; 8 to 10% solutions are gels and typically do not flow. These solutions may be diluted with pure ethyl alcohol to produce solutions where water alone would stain or defibrillate the paper items. Ethulose solutions do not support bacteria or mould growth.
